August – September 2010

Hello Sisters,           

We are now four months into our reporting year. I am sorry to say I have not received as many reports as I hoped for.  I have read each of them and I would like to point out some of the things that I have noticed.

1)  Our reporting year begins as of May 1, 2010. Any project done before May 1, 2010 is last year’s program. They cannot be counted for this year. Keep them in your records however in case you are ever audited by IRS.

2)  Monies not donated by the Auxiliary with an Auxiliary check cannot be counted as a donation. Example:  One Sister donated clothes to the local homeless shelter. The value was $400.00. You cannot count the value of the monies donated.

3)  When there is any veteran whether or not they are a member or not this falls under Veterans and Family Support and not Community Service.

Make A Difference Day – October 23, 2010

Now is the time to start planning your event.  Or one of the many other days and projects found through the Points of Light Foundation (www.pointsoflight.org) or Citizen Corps which is a part of the Department of Homeland Security (www.citizenscorps.gov).

 Ask other Auxiliaries near you to join you in your project. The more the merrier and makes less work for all.  Sponsor a Lite – A – Bike event or Fingerprinting to name a few.  There are so many things that you can do.
