What is history??? The word history denotes a systematic record of past
events. History is a narrative that recounts events with attention to
their importance, their mutual relations, causes and consequences; it is
therefore highly selective... A chronicle is a record of events in order
of time. As the Auxiliary or District Historian it is your duty to
capture the events attended, functions put on by the auxiliary or
district and events of the Department and possibility the National
Organization. To display at the end of the term of office and provide
your president and auxiliary with a record of such. History is kept by a
written and pictorial record. Written to describe the function and
pictures to support and display what was accomplished, this is truly a
record of what was accomplished during the year and is a memory for your
president; however it is not only a record for your auxiliary and
president but a tool for reporting to Department of events of your
auxiliary or district. One important event is the official visit of the
Department President Sue Wells and it is the duty of each District
Historian to record that event and properly forward a report and
pictures to the Department Historian. Reporting is also a duty of this
program to see what is being accomplished and is included in the
Department Presidents Books. I wish to extend all good wishes to each
and everyone of the historians, good luck and happy reporting.
